2008 Love Your Horse Mare & Foal Photo Contest Winners

Maggie and Barbie were the best of friends on Buckridge Farm in Kinderhook, NY. They played in the pastures together, ate together, were stalled next to each other; they even foaled together! But something went horribly wrong during foaling and Barbie did not make it through her delivery. Barbie’s foal, Little Lucky, was quickly brought next door into Maggie and newborn Mini Mag’s stall. Maggie turned and nickered to Little Lucky. Maggie took Little Lucky in as her own, nursing her and nuzzling her, encouraging her to stand and be strong. Now, Mini Mag and Lucky are the best of friends. They play in the pastures together, eat together, sleep each night by the others side and dream of their bright future as winning race horses!
