2008 Love Your Horse Mare & Foal Photo Contest Winners

Desi is a fantastic Mom and Brooke is her first foal. Brooke is also the first foal born on our new horse farm.

Having Desi has been a blessing because she has really defined brood mare for us. Her pregnancy and the birth of her daughter went so smoothly that we were able to learn without the stress. You would never guess that she is not a veteran brood mare and, thanks to her nobody would know that we are novice breeders!

Brooke was born at 5 minutes to midnight on the first day of spring. It was foggy and raining and stormy the night she was born and, as we live on the top of a mountain that is filled with iron ore, when we say stormy, lightning strikes are very common. Because of the weather (and in some small part owing to the fact that she is coal black), Brooke’s registered name is North Point Dark and Stormy.
