2008 Blue Seal Love Your Horse Mare & Foal Photo Contest Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention

The Cote Family

Southampton, MA

As a young girl I remember going for rides to the local feed store with my dad to bring home grain (Big Blue Seal bags) for the dairy cows. I always asked my dad why we had cows and not horses on our family farm. Over 40 years has passed and I have a family of my own, with horses.

This is a picture of Nelly (Oak Knoll Army Brat), a Morgan show horse which my husband and I had purchased for our daughter approximately 5 years ago to ride competitively. Nelly recently gave birth to our little equine friend Sophy. Sophy is also a Morgan. This filly was born at 1:30 am on 5/25/08 by the selective breeding of her mom to her dad Change of Heart (Blue). Our hope for Sophy’s future will revolve around her abilities and her attitude. Presently she enjoys trying to be like the big horses, and sleeping a lot. Someday Sophy may be trained enough to show in a show ring like her parents, and maybe not. My lifelong dream has always been to breed beautiful, healthy, baby horses on White Loaf Farm. Sophy is our first filly born to our family, on the farm. Many “sudden changes” in our life opened up opportunities to make this dream come true. This successful event could have never happened without a tremendous amount of support from our friends, our vet and Blue Seal Feed (Mare & Foal), which played an important role in Sophy’s overall health, strong legs, and beautiful shiny coat. Thank you Blue Seal Mare & Foal, for helping my dream come true and taking the time to read Sophy’s story.

Sudden changes, made our dreams come true. This filly’s registration papers will be sent in as being named, WLF Sudden Change as a first choice.
